First Baptist Church is committed to transformational ministry. When Jesus rose in the temple, He offered His own purpose statement but it also fits every Kingdom focused servant. “The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because I am marked out by him to give good news to the poor; he has sent me to make well those who are broken-hearted; to say that the prisoners will be let go, and the blind will see, and to make the wounded free from their chains.” (Luke 4:18 -CEV). First Baptist acknowledges and embraces its place in God’s economy. We realize that Satan has formed obstacles to distract and detach us from the knowledge of Godly assurance. We, as a church, are intentional in the command share with those who are hurting that God is THE Healer.
Whether it is in Sunday morning worship, Wednesday Bible Study or through internet interaction, we embrace the grave nature of the Great Commission seriously. “Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.” (Matt. 28-19, 20 CEV). We exist to bring people into a saving and redemptive relationship with Jesus Christ.
Our prayer is that the “Cyber-Evangelistic” experience will bless you. I make this guarantee; if you choose to visit First Baptist you will experience an infectious love. So please, if you are in the DMV area, take the opportunity to venture into this church “which has a great past and an even greater future.” We don’t just mouth it, we mean it!
